New Delhi [India], July 24 (ANI): On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin announced that he would boycott the NITI Aayog meeting over the Union Budget 2024. In response, Union Minister of State (MoS) L. Murugan said that Stalin is undermining democracy and his actions are condemnable.
While talking to ANI, the Union Minister stated, “I strongly condemn this. This is the habit of the INDI Alliance; they are not participating in such a significant forum. If Stalin does not attend, how will he provide justice to the Tamil people?”
“Stalin always talks about federalism and democracy, but it is only talk. Today, he announced that he would not attend the NITI Aayog meeting. He is causing harm to the Tamil people and Tamil Nadu,” said Murugan.
He further added, “Stalin must come forward, attend this meeting, and address issues for the development of Tamil Nadu.”
“Stalin is undermining democracy. People have voted for him for the development of Tamil Nadu. His decision to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting is condemnable,” the Union Minister further criticised.
Earlier, hitting out at the BJP over the Union Budget, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that he would be boycotting the NITI Aayog meeting.
M.K. Stalin stated, “Despite winning for the third term, BJP has done nothing for the people. Despite Tamil Nadu facing historic devastation, no funds were allotted to the state. No schemes for Tamil Nadu. I am going to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal termed the Union Budget 2024 as discriminatory and announced that the Indian National Congress (INC) Chief Ministers would boycott the NITI Aayog meeting scheduled for July 27.
Taking to X, Congress MP K.C. Venugopal said, “The Union Budget presented today was extremely discriminatory and dangerous, which completely goes against the principles of federalism and fairness that the Union Government must follow. In protest, INC CMs will be boycotting the NITI Aayog meeting scheduled for July 27.” (ANI)
