Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 2 (ANI): On the occasion of Saawan Shivratri, devotees in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, flocked to the Augharnath Temple to offer prayers. Pilgrims also visited Lord Shiva temples across the state, including in Moradabad, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Ghaziabad and sought blessings.

Speaking with ANI, one of the devotees said, “A large number of devotees gather here and the temple administration should provide the necessary facilities…”

In Moradabad also, devotees thronged to Shiva temple and offered prayers on ‘Sawan Shivratri.’ On this occasion, the police authorities have also checked on the facilities for the devotees.

Speaking to ANI, Satpal Antil, SSP Moradabad said, “Keeping in view of the Shivratri Sawan, all arrangements have been checked. Arrangements for electricity and sanitation have also been completed. All the senior officials have given a tour of the city and are giving directions to improve the conditions and we will get everything done safely.”

Meanwhile, the devotees also took a holy dip at the Saryu River on the occasion of ‘Sawan Shivratri’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya and offered prayers at Nageshwarnath temple on the occasion.

In Prayagraj also, the devotees offered prayers at Mankameshwar Temple on ‘Sawan Shivratri.’

Devotees offer prayers at Dudheshwar Nath Temple on the occasion of ‘Sawan Shivratri’ in Ghaziabad, where devotees could be seen waiting in line to enter the temple premises.

Sawan Shivratri is a major Hindu festival with deep religious and spiritual meaning. This festival is celebrated on the 14th day of the lunar month and marks the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This sacred month, typically falling between July and August, is a period of worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
The Kanwar Yatra procession witnesses Kanwariyas collecting water from a river and carrying it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the Lord Shiva shrines.
The Kanwar Yatra is a pilgrimage that took place from July 22 and will come to an end on August 2 on Shivratri. (ANI)
