Agartala (Tripura) [India], September 14 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday emphasised the need for proper training in the sports sector to improve performance and foster a culture of excellence in the state’s sports ecosystem.
Addressing an event in Agartala, he said, “There is no shortage of talent in sports. We are also developing infrastructure. With proper training, they will surely bring us glory.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of practice and fitness for players to achieve success. In terms of maintaining fitness, he suggested incorporating yoga and elements of gymnastics into their training regimen.
The Chief Minister was attending the felicitation and award distribution ceremony organised by the Tripura Cricket Association at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
He urged officials of the Tripura Cricket Association to strive for excellence, aiming to bring glory to Tripura at both national and international levels. He emphasised that the development of the sports sector and players should be the primary goal.
Referring to the ongoing development of sports infrastructure in the state, the Chief Minister mentioned the international stadium project at Narsinghgarh.
He noted that, despite several challenges, an international-standard stadium is being developed at Narsinghgarh, with one of the issues being a lack of space for vehicle movement.
In this regard, he said instructions had been given to the District Magistrate and concerned officials to address the issue. He added that if necessary, land would be acquired and handed over to the TCA to ensure proper arrangements for the stadium.
Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Tinku Roy, former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, and honorary TCA president Tapan Lodh, along with other dignitaries, were present at the event. (ANI)
