Patna (Bihar) [India], November 18 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence from Manipur, asking why he hasn’t visited the state amidst the ongoing violence.
Speaking with ANI, Lalu Yadav said, “Ask the Prime Minister why he is not going to Manipur.” When asked about the Jharkhand elections, he said, “When the results come, you will know.”
Meanwhile, RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari too slammed the Central government over the prolonged unrest in Manipur. He accused the Prime Minister of neglecting the northeastern state while focusing on international trips.
“The way the Central Government has behaved, it seems as if the Prime Minister doesn’t even remember Manipur. Over there, even the Chief Minister and all the ministers feel unsafe. In such a situation, if they withdraw their support, it’s justified. That government should be dismissed. Why hasn’t the President’s Rule been imposed there yet? If it’s a ‘double-engine government,’ then why are there questions being raised about law and order?” Tiwari told ANI.
Highlighting the prolonged crisis, he added, “The people of Manipur deserve justice, no matter which government is in power. The Central Government has a direct responsibility. The Prime Minister seems to forget about Manipur but has time to travel around the entire world.”
The situation in Manipur remains tense, with curfews imposed in Imphal West and Imphal East following the killing of six people. Internet services have been suspended in seven districts to maintain order.
Meanwhile, on November 11, Lalu Yadav dismissed the impact of PM Modi’s roadshows and rallies, saying they wouldn’t affect Mahagathbandhan’s chances. “The candidate of Mahagathbandhan will win here. It (PM Modi’s roadshow) is not going to create a difference. Modiji has gone, he came and now he is gone,” he stated.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections are set to be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. In the previous assembly election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, the BJP won 25 and Congress won 16 seats. (ANI)
