Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 23 (ANI): On the upcoming Maharashtra election results, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Saturday said that the party result predictions were disappointing and there was no doubt the party could have done better.
Speaking to ANI, Shrinate said “Maharashtra elections are opposite to our expectations. There is no doubt that we could have done better. At the same time, however, we are happy that we have performed well in Jharkhand and we are going to repeat our government there. The elections in Maharashtra have been disappointing. Our campaigns were good but maybe the public expects a little more from us and we will deliver on their expectations.”
Further, she said that discussions should be held on the EVMs and on how the elections were postponed.
“We should definitely have discussions on how the EVMS, on how the elections were postponed and on how the Mahayuti government was given more time to launch their schemes. We will deliver to the expectations of the people surely,” Shrinate added.
Congress’Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir said, “These are early trends, we have just entered 2-3 rounds of counting, there are approx 20 rounds of counting in total. In some places, we are leading and in others, we are trailing. We should wait till 2-3 PM, the number of seats and margin of votes for Congress will increase…In Dhanbad, which is considered the second-best capital after Ranchi, we are performing very well. In Ranchi and Bokaro as well, we are performing well. We expect 5-6 seats to increase by the end…”
According to initial trends, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is leading in 55 seats, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 35, and the BJP has the most, leading in 128 seats, while the Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RYSWP), which is part of the maha Yuti alliance has one seat.
Meanwhile, in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) is leading in 13 seats, Congress in 20 seats, and the UBT Sena in 17 seats. Samajwadi Party, which is supporting the Aghadi alliance leads in 2 seats.
The Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, is in a tough contest with the MVA alliance consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP).
The results will be declared today. (ANI)
