New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Indian Medical Association in a statement on Sunday extended its gratitude to the Ministry of Education for transferring the investigation into the ‘irregularities’ in the NEET UG examination to the CBI.
The IMA also congratulated the Centre for its prompt response in the NEET-UG exam controversies.
In a statement, the IMA said, “The Indian Medical Association (HQs) is privileged to congratulate our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister JP Nadda, and Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, for their prompt response to our concerns regarding the NEET UG Examination controversies”.
“We extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Education for transferring the investigation of the ‘irregularities’ in the NEET UG examination to the CBI for a thorough probe,” the statement said.
It added: “We are also thankful to the Government for removing the Director General of the NTA and assigning additional responsibility to Pradeep Kumar Kharoka as Director General of NTA in the Ministry of Education”.
“We appreciate the Government for enacting stringent laws to address “malpractice and irregularities” in competitive examinations. In cases of organized crime involving examination authorities, service providers, or other institutions, offenders may face imprisonment of up to 10 years and a minimum fine of Rs 1 crore,” the statement said.
The IMA said that the present students are the future of India, and it is crucial that important competitive examinations are conducted with the utmost diligence and confidentiality. “We trust that the difficulties endured by NEET PG students are an inevitable corollary of the welcome reforms of the Government and we hope for the robust mechanism as promised by the Government”
IMA not only welcomes the Government’s decisions but also appreciates the timely steps taken in this regard, it said. “We urge the Government to take swift action to ensure that counselling for admission in Medical, Dental, and other courses begins on time,” It added.
“We hope for a safe and secure future for our next generations,” the IMA said. (ANI)
