Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 15 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the announcement of election schedule for Jharkhand on Tuesday and dubbed it as a “crucial” election considering the state’s future.
The Election Commission of India announced the election schedule for the state earlier in the day. Voting will be held in two phases in Jharkhand on November 13 and 20.
CM Sarma who is also BJP’s co-incharge for Jharkhand assembly polls, highlighted “Modi’s Guarantee” in a post on X on Tuesday.

“On one side is the INDI alliance’s track record of sin, corruption and appeasement in the last five years, and on the other side is #ModiKiGuarantee, which will take the state on the path of progress in the coming 5 years. In the coming days, in this great festival of democracy, all our workers will reach the homes of the people and pray for their blessings,” he added.
Counting of votes in both Jharkhand and Maharashtra will be held on November 23. The last date of making nominations for the two phases is October 25 and 29, the date for scrutiny of nominations is October 28 and 30 and last date for withdrawal of candidatures is October 30 and November 1 respectively.
As per the ECI, a total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to cast votes in Jharkhand and there are 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters. The state has 11.84 lakh first-time voters and there are 66.84 lakh young voters. Senior citizens above 85 years in age can vote from home.
The term of the Jharkhand assembly will end on January 5, 2025, with elections scheduled in 81 constituencies in the state. (ANI)
