New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): Following the reports of multiple deaths among its residents, in Asha Kiran, a government home for the mentally challenged in Rohini, Delhi, Bharatiya Janata leader Shazia Ilmi demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal.
She also slammed the opposition INDIA bloc for maintaining silence over the issue.
“Reports are coming that 27 deaths have occurred here…All those who have died are mentally challenged…Who is responsible for this incident?…,” Ilmi asked in a self-made video.
The BJP leader added, “And their alliance (INDIA bloc) does not bother at all to speak on this issue… They have time to do politics but no time to speak on this issue… Whom will the Delhi government blame now? Is LG Sahab responsible for this? Is the MCD Commissioner responsible for this? Is the Delhi police responsible for this? or the Delhi Welfare Department?”
She questioned, “How did the deaths of these children take place? adding, “Why was not anything done for them before they died?”
Slamming the Aam Admi Party, the BJP leader said, “Their politics have worsened to a new low. Their INDIA alliance partners have no concern for these children…If they speak (on any issue) in Delhi, then they have to comment on Arvind Kejriwal”.
She added, “It is now all-important that Arvind Kejriwal resign now…”
The most number of deaths (14) have been recorded in the month of July in Asha Kiran Shelter Home being run in Delhi’s Rohini area, an official report said.
A controversy has erupted over the deaths in the shelter home.
The official report stated that a total of 25 deaths were recorded from February 2024, out of which 14 deaths occurred (Male-6, Female-8) in the shelter home in the month of July only.
The report from Asha Kiran Shelter Home to the Delhi Government mentioned loose motion and unconsciousness as being the reason behind deaths. Other reasons included- mild fever, loose stools and vomiting. (ANI)
