Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], November 14 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken a significant step to accelerate the approval process for land conversion proposals, from land cultivation to agricultural and agricultural to non-agricultural purposes, at the district and state levels for bona fide purchasers.
Under the existing state regulations, bona fide purchasers are required to obtain state-level approval for land valuations exceeding Rs 50 lakh. In response to the increasing number of applications and to minimize delays in the approval process, CM Bhupendra Patel has opted to decentralize authority, ensuring quicker processing at various stages.
This move reflects the principle of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” and revises the delegation of authority for approving premium levies based on land valuation, streamlining the approval process for greater efficiency.
As per the Revenue Department’s resolution dated March 17, 2017, the authority to approve the premium levy on land valuations up to Rs 5 crore for bona fide purchasers has been delegated to the District Collector, revising the previous delegation of powers for premium levies.
This citizen-centric decision by CM Bhupendra Patel will streamline the process, ensuring faster disposal of applications from bona fide purchasers and accelerating the overall development process.
Earlier on November 12, Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel approved a budget of Rs 253.94 crore for a series of development projects across 14 Towns and One Metropolis, aiming to enhance the ease of living for people across Gujarat on Tuesday. In 2010, as part of Gujarat’s golden jubilee celebrations, then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, now the Prime Minister, launched Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
This initiative was designed to tackle the challenges of rapid urbanization, driven by the state’s growing industries and world-class development. Thanks to the scheme’s ongoing success, it has been extended until 2026-27. Under this initiative, funds are provided to local self-governing institutions to improve civic amenities and urban welfare. As part of this program, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has approved Rs 253.94 crore under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for the urban infrastructure and facilities enhancement.
