Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 13 (ANI): In a vibrant display of patriotism and cultural heritage, Shimla hosted a Tiranga Yatra at the Ridge Maidan, featuring traditional folk dances and performances.
The event, organized as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, brought together local artists to celebrate India’s national flag and honour the contributions of freedom fighters.

Under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the directions of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the State Language, Art, and Culture Department, in collaboration with the North Zone Culture Centre, Patiala, orchestrated this Tiranga Yatra.
Anil Harta, District Language Officer, and Organiser, Shimla spoke about the campaign and said, “Following the directions of the Government of India, we have organized the Tiranga Yatra today in Shimla as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Artists are performing folk and patriotic songs and dances to honour our national flag, the tricolour, and to remember those who contributed to the nation’s freedom.”
“Artists play a vital role in society, serving as a powerful medium to spread this message. We want every household to unfurl the Tricolour on Independence Day,” said Anil Harta, the organizer and District Language Officer of Shimla.
One of the participating artists, Roshni Justa, emphasized the importance of the Tiranga Yatra.
“It is important to hold this Tiranga Yatra. We are happy to remember those bravehearts who have given us independence. We are thankful to the Language, Art, and Culture Department for organizing this. Through this campaign, our youth should remember our freedom fighters and their contribution to the independence of the country,” she said.
Adding further she stated, “Youth should stay away from drugs and respect those who are serving in the Army and working for the nation; they should be encouraged.”
Another artist, Nidhi Walia, highlighted the significance of serving the nation and respecting the tricolour.
“It is important to serve the nation. I would say we should respect our tricolour, the Indian national flag. We should give respect to all. Respecting the national flag is important,” said Walia.
The event at Ridge Maidan attracted a large crowd, with participants and spectators alike immersing themselves in the patriotic spirit, celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage while paying tribute to those who fought for the country’s independence. (ANI)
