New Delhi [India], September 21 (ANI): The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) held a press conference on Saturday to officially launch its manifesto for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections and introduce the panel of candidates.
Former NSUI National President Amrita Dhawan introduced the candidates to the media.
The panel includes Ronak Khatri, contesting for the position of president–Yash Nandal, contesting for the position of vice president–Namrata Jeph Meena, contesting for the position of secretary–and Lokesh Choudhary, contesting for the position of joint secretary.
During the press conference, NSUI National President Varun Choudhary highlighted the key points of the manifesto, stating, “Our manifesto reflects a comprehensive approach to address all issues related to student welfare. We have carefully included provisions that focus on the holistic development of students, their rights, and campus infrastructure. NSUI is committed to delivering on every promise we have made.”
Choudhary expressed confidence in the candidates and the upcoming elections, saying, “We are confident that NSUI will secure a 4-0 victory in these elections. Each of our candidates has fought relentlessly for student rights and is deeply connected with the issues faced by the student community. Their commitment and hard work will resonate with the electorate.”
The manifesto emphasises a student-first approach, focusing on improving campus facilities, securing fair opportunities for all students, ensuring transparent examinations, and amplifying student voices in decision-making processes.
NSUI urges all students of Delhi University to come forward and support the candidates who are dedicated to making their university experience better and more inclusive.
In the 2023 election, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three out of the four central panel seats, including the presidential post. Tushar Dedha of the ABVP was elected president, while NSUI’s Abhi Dahiya, the only NSUI winner, was chosen vice-president of the Students’ Union.
