Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], July 30 (ANI): After concluding his four-day visit to New Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi places special emphasis on the development of Odisha and that there will be significant changes in the state in the next five years.
Speaking to the media at the airport, CM Majhi said, “I participated in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by the Prime Minister and presented demands concerning the important aspects of Odisha’s development. We have significant responsibilities for the first five years of the upcoming 12-year period leading up to 2036. Odisha is given primary importance in the initiative by Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister places special emphasis on the development of Odisha.”
“Therefore, the proposals I have made at the NITI Aayog meeting will be implemented, and there will be significant changes in Odisha in the next five years. For the development of Odisha, the focus is on developing 480 kilometres of coastline, port-based industries, tourism, the IT sector, and the development of tribal communities,” he added.
Meanwhile, after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP government presented its first state budget, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik mocked it as ‘Name Changer’ and said that this budget saw 80 per cent of his schemes being repeated.
In a post on X, Patnaik said, “Congratulations to the new government of Odisha on presenting its first budget and a special congratulation for repeating more than 80 per cent of the schemes implemented by our government. More than 80 per cent of your budget allocation, flows towards the schemes formulated by the BJD Government.”
The Rs 2.65 lakh crore budget for the 2024-25 fiscal was presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, on Thursday.
The budget for the current fiscal year exceeded the budgetary forecast of Rs 2.30 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2023-24 by almost 15 per cent. (ANI)
