Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 27 (ANI): Condemening the terror attack in Pahalgam, National Tour Operators expressed hope that tourism industry in the valley will be able to come through the challenges which lies ahead in the coming days.
Addressing a press conference, Satish Shah, who operates a tour operating firm in Mumbai, said, “I have no words to describe the tragic incident that occurred in Pahalgam on April 22. Apart from India, people abroad are also numb and shocked by this attack. We strongly condemn it because it has no place in Kashmir’s culture. It is also a challenge for Kashmir because such incidents have happened before. When the Pulwama attack occurred, there was a wave to boycott Kashmir. At that time, I had run a strong campaign, ‘Love Kashmir-Promote Kashmir.”
Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, chairman of the J-K Hoteliers, announced that their team will be visiting Pahalgam on Monday and will be meeting the family of Syed Adil Hussain, who lost his life in the attacks while rescuing the tourists.
The terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam targeted tourists, killing 26 people, including one Nepalese national. The victims were gunned down near Baisaran Meadow, a popular tourist destination in the region. This attack marks one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, which resulted in the deaths of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans.
On April 23, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met and was briefed in detail about the attack. The committee strongly condemned the incident and expressed its condolences to the victims’ families while also wishing for the swift recovery of those injured. As part of the response, India has taken a significant step by withdrawing its Defence, Navy, and Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These positions are now considered annulled, and five support staff members of the Service Advisors will also be withdrawn from both missions. (ANI)
